Pam In The Pool!!

My name is Pam Jones and I live with my husband Paul and our son and daughter Jo (age 21) and Ceri (age 16) with our HamiltonstÖvare on the Shropshire /Powys borders in the UK. We live on a Working Farm so our children and Hounds have a wonderful country up bringing and have access to acres of land to play and hunt.

I am a member of the Hamiltonstovare Club of Great Britain, I am also a Judge on the Clubs B List.

I have been involved with animals, particularly dogs all my life, so health and temperament is very high on my agenda. I trained and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse at Liverpool and first worked in Small Animal Practices in Manchester,  when I moved to Wales and married I then ventured more in to Mixed Veterinary Practice.

My husband Paul is a commissioned "Captain" with the "Army Cadet Force", and for over 20 years has given a huge amount of  personal time to young adults. I am very proud of him and all his hard work and achievements. He never has to think twice in helping a youngster in need and was awarded in 2000 " The Lord Lieutenant Of Powys Certificate" by Shan Legge Bourke, the Queens representative for Powys.

On a personal note for myself I have been a Councillor for the Local Community for the past 3 years, dealing with community issues and views. I am also a Church Warden for our local Church in "The Snead", which involves many different tasks, flower arranging being just one! I also have the lovely honour, in the later part of the year, selling Poppies for our local district. When I get the time I also attend many Army functions with my husband Paul, which I enjoy immensely.

Our Hounds are first and foremost family members and the whole family loves them dearly, we have never, all through our lives, been without a dog by our side.

I became involved with the HamiltonstÖvare late 1998, they are classed as a Rare Breed in the UK.

The HamiltonstÖvare is not for the faint hearted, they are a scent hound originating from Sweden so therefore are bred for hunting. They do though make a fantastic family members who's temperament is second to none. A lot of exercise and stimulation is needed as is early obedience, a HamiltonstÖvare also craves human company and hate to be left on their own. For our family there is no other breed.

Our hounds work very hard in the pheasant season, Kaysa and Odin are this years stars! We welcome ANYONE to come and shoot with us for the day, as the "proof is in the pudding" when you work with our Hounds. We are also probably the only people in the breed in the UK that have hunted Hare and Elk in Sweden with HamiltonstÖvare.

We also believe in giving facts and not  fiction, a policy we have kept throughout our lives.

Please feel free to visit our website as it chronicles part of our lives with this fantastic breed, and all our Hounds fabulous achievements of which we are very proud.  Don't forget to sign our Guestbook too!

We hope we have given you an insight to our lives here in beautiful Wales.

Please keep call back for updates.
